There are so many social media sites out there these days. You have Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Stumble Upon, Tumblr…and the list goes on! So which one is the best for YOU and YOUR business to get the most return from your time?

In this video you will get three tips on how to figure that out!

Tip 1: What is the demographic of the clients you are trying to attract? By clarifying the type of clients you want to attract you’ll be able to determine which social sites they prefer.

Tip 2: Where do your current clients hang out? Study your current clients and the social sites they spend their time on to get clues to where your future clients may also be hanging out.

Tip 3: How much time do you have to dedicate to social media? Some social sites require more time than others. Figure out how much time you have to dedicate to social media and allocate it wisely.

Tip 4: Just start out with one social site, don’t overwhelm yourself! If you try to do it all at once chances are you’ll burn yourself out and not see the results you’re looking to achieve. Remember, even in the fast paced world of social media, slow and steady wins the race!

  1. You are not kidding when you say at times you want to pull your hair out when it comes to choosing where to spend your time! I use four and this is the order I use them in: LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest. Early on I recognized that I receive traffic from LinkedIn if I participate in groups so I’ve created that strategy.

    Great tips, thanks!

  2. Excellent tips! It can get to the point where too much is too much! I use Twitter, FB and LinkedIn pretty regularly – and since I network with developers and webheads I am trying to get on G+ (not to mention the SEO benefits!). I need to refine my LI strategy and get more involved. But there’s only so much time in the day.

    Loved this post!

  3. Excellent video Devani. People are all over the place trying to figure out where they should spend their time and instead of being in the right ones they’re spread too thin.

As a personal favorite I love Twitter and FB but many of my subscribers are now coming from LinkedIn so I do spend more time there. πŸ™‚

    Good points Devani!
Not all of the sites are best for everyone and it really is about finding out where your target market is.

With so little time in my day, I really have to be conscious of where I spend my time. I schedule 10-15 minutes, 3 times a day and use a timer. It has really helped me be consistent and not spend hours.

Twitter, FB and Google + are my faves.
