What You Need to Know About The New Algorithm Change on Instagram

It was only a matter of time before Instagram decides to shake things up. With over 400 million regular users now, an algorithm change were bound to happen. In 2015 interactions on Instagram declined from 5% to 3% during the year. Why? As explained in Quintly, there are two factors: 1) higher post frequency makes a more crowded space and posts are easier to miss and 2) the more followers the smaller the interaction percentage (interactions divided by posts and followers). In a blog post, Instagram announced that they’re focusing on optimizing the post order. They state that most users miss an average of 70% of content in their feeds. They want to make sure the 30% of content you do see

The best tools for scheduling social media posts

When it comes to marketing and social media, time is of the essence. To maximize your social media management, it’s best to set aside 1-2 hours all at once to gather content and schedule. That way during the week you are only focusing on interaction, answering questions and serving your audience. When you batch your activities by doing content creation and scheduling for the whole week at once, you’ll be more productive in the long run and have more time to be…social! I have a few favorite tools for scheduling my social media: Sprout Social (affiliate link): What I love about sprout is that you can schedule Facebook, Twitter and Google+ at the same time. In addition, their reporting feature

5 Business Lessons From Running a Half Marathon

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you may have seen my journey the last three months training for my half marathon that took place on February 8th in San Diego. I would never have imagined just six months ago that I would be training to run 13.1 miles, as I have never been a runner. I don’t think I could even recall a time that I have run over 3 miles in my entire life! The reason I decided to set a goal of running a half marathon is because I knew that the lessons I would learn during this experience would transform my skill set and make me a stronger person and CEO. When you commit to doing

Are you charging enough for your services?

I’ve worked with hundreds of different female business owners from service based businesses, brick-and-mortar, retail and online models. Originally, they come to me for marketing, but as we start to dive in, I usually see a major disconnect between how they are packaging and charging for their services to achieve the income level and goals they have for their businesses. Most female entrepreneurs are not charging enough when they start out. It’s actually a fact that most women undervalue themselves. According to U.S. Census Bureau, women still earn only 77¢ for every $1 that men earn. As a woman business owner, and a kick-ass one I must say, it’s time for us to change these stats and stop undervaluing ourselves! I’ve

More New Changes for Facebook: What This Means for Your Business

What would the new year be without a few changes, right? Facebook seems to agree. How to Build an Online Tribe

Wanna know my secret to building my thriving business? I don’t do it alone. Nope, I have a group of people that I rely on…a team, my posse, my crew, my peeps, or as I like to call them, my tribe. What exactly makes up a tribe, you ask? A tribe is your on and offline community of followers and fans: people that love what you are about and what you have to offer. Your tribe consists of the people that give you feedback and support when you post content and believe in you so much that they want to share your message with others. Your tribe is also your warm market network. They are the people to which you are

The Power of Storytelling

Do you strive to be able to make meaningful connections and attract more buzz to your business? Well nothing captures people’s attention better than an intriguing story. As a matter of fact, my #1 strategy for creating authentic engagement and connection with my online audience is very simple: storytelling. I’m not talking about the “OMG, you will never believe what I overheard yesterday…” kind of storytelling. Nope, I’m talking about digging deep and sharing your authentic, personal story; the story that shows your audience why you are who you are, how you got to your current position, what kind of challenges and difficulties you had to endure and, more importantly, overcome to get to where you are today. I’m talking
