Do Facebook’s Promoted Posts Really Work?

Today I want to give you the dish on Facebook’s promoted posts. I know that Facebook has been causing a lot of frustrations for many of us businesses owners. They seem to be doing a lot of tweaks and changes consistently. Some are awesome and some just plan suck. Once of these is features is their promoted posts they launched a couple months back and I’ve had the opportunity to test them out a bit…so today I’m going to share with you my personal case study and opinion on if promoted posts are worth your time and money.

First of all, if you’re not sure what promoted posts are, I explain how to create them in the video below. You’ll have a few options for them (your flat rate budget, target audience, etc.) Watch the video as I explain how to set them up and also how they’ve worked for me in my business.

So as you can see, promoted posts unfortunately are not that great, in my option. Unless, of course, your target audience is in Turkey! haha

Based upon this case study, as well as feedback I’ve heard from others, Facebook posts are simply not worth it.

I took my frustration and submitted a nice and direct message to Facebook expressing this situation and outcome. Like I’ll hear back? Oh well, perhaps someone in Facebook land will respond.

If you’re looking to do ads on Facebook to grow your audience my suggestion would be to explore sponsored ads. These ads allow you to define your target audience and target your specific demographic.

Now, I would love to hear from you! Have you tried out promoted posts? What has been your experience with them? Please share in the comments below.

  1. Hi Devani! I have been trying promoted posts and found that only in 1 case did I generate some business (we did a buy one, get one free cookbook promo and it was pretty good). Besides that, I agree that the people that are liking and sharing my posts are in foreign countries where our health and wellness business isn’t even at. Thanks for this post.

    1. Great to see you here Amber! Thanks for sharing your experience.

  2. Hi Devani, I noticed the exact same thing for a promoted post campaign I ran this weekend. Seems like a lot of the likes were outside of the U.S.A. Great to have more likes, but not sure it will impact profits. Thanks for the video.

    1. Bummer! Thanks for your comment Josh! 🙂

  3. I had the same experience with my local ads for my brick and mortar business. I think what’s happening is that they have some delivery issue tweaks that they need to figure out!

Hope you have a great Thanksgiving weekend Devani!
