Last week we discussed what Pinterest is, how it works, and how to get started using it. Today let’s dive into WHY Pinterest matters!
If you’re looking to drive traffic to your site, build links, generate leads, or simply utilize this new, popular avenue of social sharing than you should definitely consider joining Pinterest.
Perhaps the number one reason you should be jumping on the Pinterest bandwagon is the potential to drive lots of traffic to your website. Early research indicates that Pinterest is more effective at driving traffic compared to other social media sites, even Facebook!
Like any social network, the highest returns will be seen for those companies and individuals that are early adapters of Pinterest and leverage it’s traffic driving abilities. Will you be one of them?
If you use the “Pin It” button on your website, every single one of your pins will include a link back to the source. While the links are ‘no follow’ and won’t have a direct impact on your SEO strategy, this still offers an incredible opportunity for link building and again, driving more traffic to your website.
As we all know, traffic is great but it’s the leads that we’re ultimately going after. The cool thing about Pinterest is that it’s driving traffic based on visual appeal. What this means for you? If you can equally delight your website visitors visually upon landing on your website, you have the potential to generate new leads in droves!
Finally, let’s not forget the powerful role Pinterest can play in your social media strategy. As I mentioned in Part 1, Pinterest accounts can be connected to both Facebook and Twitter. This means that when a user ‘likes’ or ‘repins’ your images, the images can be shared on the user’s Facebook and Twitter profiles, which means more eyeballs on you! This feature is great to boost social sharing and get your fans
to spread the word about your brand.
